A New Year's Resolution! You've got to be kidding! How many times do you try this in January? December should be the time to start taking any kind of action.
You wake up on January 1st, yawn, stretch, look at the clock, lay back down while pulling the covers back over your head for that last five minutes. You say to yourself "I'll start tomorrow." You get up only to realize it's later than you thought and time is rushing by. Finished, you're out the door. You pick up that convenient fast food breakfast near the job, get to your location (but not before you put your leftovers-loaded-with-calories lunch in the frig.
You think to yourself, tomorrow's another day.
Day one down the drain. No early morning exercise or calorie counting start.
The days go on and on.
The best thing I find is not to give up. You've got to be kidding to think it will happen right away. Once you get tired of being tired, you'll finally do something. Not realizing you've crossed one hurdle, the ball starts to roll.
You put on certain clothing and can't sit fearing you'll rip the seam; First Sign. Running for that approaching transportation, you feel your heart about to bust out of your chest; Second Sign. You're starting to feeling fat and uncomfortable watching all the "skinny people" go by, Third Sign. Do they even eat!
With that said, the next thing you know you will have started to walk a little more, be more aware of your sodium, sugar and calories. You'll think twice about what you're consuming.
Looking good and feeling fine, when asked if you wanted that afternoon candy bar or cup of coffee with two sugars, I can just imagine the smile on your face when you answer "you've got to be kidding!" In June.
